The Linnean Society of London is the world's oldest society for the study and dissemination of taxonomy and natural history. A living forum for biology, it promotes the study of the natural world and all its branches. The Linnean Society publishes zoological, botanical and biological journals and organises regular events for the public and society fellows alike. The Linnean Society, founded in 1788, took its name from the Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus and is based at Burlington House, Piccadilly, London where it houses its world renowned collection of specimens, art and scientific literature. |
