Blog content

A series of blogs on handling objects: research and learning, risk, encouraging clinical access, using collections strategically, the value of social media, and new ways of engagement with mass audiences will be commissioned via the project UK Collections Connections Knowledge Workshops (information on Knowledge Exchange Workshops).  This is a short term project where UK museums (listed in About Us) will collaboratively develop workshops dealing with the aforementioned subjects and share insights, recommendations, tips, takeaways in toolkit blogs on the Collections for All website.

This project is funded and supported by the Natural History Museum, Arts Council England, and hosting museums (Manchester Museum, Hunterian Museum, and Oxford University Museum of Natural History) and all of the representative organisations of participants attending (aforementioned and National Museum Directors’ Council, Collections Trust, Museum of London, Kings College London, and Queen Mary’s College, London).

In addition, appropriate blogs will be republished from museums, professional bodies and organisations and blogs will be commissioned on specific issues affecting the use of natural science collections [conservation, Integrated Pest Management, sound archives, collection systems and care etc.]

If you have a story, some lessons learned, or knowledge you would like to share or if there is a collection project to add or link to please contact Julie Reynolds via collectionsforall@nhm.ac.uk
